A bipartisan coalition of US states has accused Meta of deliberately designing Facebook and Instagram to keep children and teenagers engaged, while failing to adequately protect them and improperly collecting data from children under 13.

Meta denies the allegations and says it has invested extensively in tools and safeguards to protect young people.
