Health Professionals for Safer Screens have launched a campaign to support parents of young children to go screen free this summer. We recognise how tough being a parent is and that’s why we have created the Summer of Connections campaign. We’re on the parents’ side. They don’t need more guilt. They deserve honest and supportive information to help them make the best choices for their family.
Our summer campaign isn’t about being perfect. It’s about pausing, reflecting, and giving parents the knowledge and tools to feel confident in a world that often makes that very difficult. We can’t rewind childhood, but we can pause. We can learn. And we can choose to do things differently. Starting now. Starting this summer.
Our Summer of Connections ebook is here and as with our new webpage it is packed with advice, evidence, and helpful tips for supporting the development of young children, as well as offering fun activities.
It includes videos of members of Health Professionals for Safer Screens and other trusted health professionals offering some easy ideas to help you support your child and their development without the use of screens. This includes newborns because, as Consultant Neonatologist Dr Kelly Brown says, “Your baby’s brain is growing quickly. They learn best by watching your face and hearing your voice. By talking, playing and responding to your baby, you support their learning in language, movement and managing emotions.”
We launched the campaign with Jo Frost, Global Parenting Expert, and will be communicating it across the summer
